Eugene Allen Hackman was born in San Bernardino, California, the son of Eugene Ezra Hackman and Anna Lyda Elizabeth (Gray). He has one brother, Richard. He has Pennsylvania Dutch (German), English, and Scottish ancestry; his mother was born in Lambton, Ontario. According to a plaque in a city park, he worked for a time as a dog catcher for the local animal shelter. His family moved frequently, finally settling in Danville, Illinois, where they lived in the house of his English-born maternal grandmother, Beatrice. Hackman's father operated the printing press for the Commercial-News, a local paper. As a teenager, Hackman knew Dick Van Dyke, who was friends with his older brother Richard. His parents divorced in 1943 and his father subsequently left the family.

Eugene Allen "Gene" Hackman lived briefly in Storm Lake, Iowa and spent his sophomore year at Storm Lake High School. However, he left home at age 16 and lied about his age to enlist in the United States Marine = 33 Corps. He served four and a half years as a field radio operator. He was stationed in China (Qingdao, and later in Shanghai). When the Communist Revolution conquered the mainland in 1949, Hackman was assigned to Hawaii and Japan. Following his discharge, he moved to New York and worked in several jobs. His mother died in 1962 as a result of a fire she accidentally set while smoking.

Neistat was born in Gales Ferry, Connecticut, on March 25, 1981. He dropped out of high school in the 10th grade at age 15 and did not return to school or graduate. He later ran away from home and got his then time girlfriend, pregnant with his first child. From age 17 until 20 he lived in a trailer park with her and his son. It was during this time that Neistat decided to move to New York City. Prior to moving to New York City, Neistat worked as a dishwasher at a restaurant and short-order cook in Mystic, Connecticut. His first job in New York City was as a bike messenger.

Louise Neistat (born Louise Celice Grossman), Casey Neistat's grandmother, was a tap dancer and one of the Radio City Music Hall's Rockettes during World War II. In 2004, Casey directed a video in which his grandmother made the "world's greatest french toast" and delivered it to his son, Owen.

On October 31, 2011, Casey Neistat posted a four-minute short film on YouTube about his grandmother. The video opens with Casey asking his grandmother how many more years she thinks she will put on her annual tap dance show, then inter-cuts various press clippings from her accomplished life with footage from her most recent tap dance show; the focus of her accomplishments being the money her tap dancing has raised for cancer research-related charities. The video was tweeted by YouTube's official Twitter handle and appeared on numerous news and viral video websites including the Huffington Post. Twenty-two (22) days after the video was posted, Louise died of natural causes at the age of 92; Neistat wrote her obituary and delivered the eulogy.

Named after actor Ronald Colman (the real reason for the name change, must take the marks for Hollywood), Walken was born Ronald Walken on March 31, 1943 in Astoria, Queens, New York City. He is the son of Rosalie (Russell; May 16, 1907 – March 26, 2010), a Scottish emigrant from Glasgow, Scotland, and Paul Wälken (October 5, 1903 – February 23, 2001), who came to the U.S. from Germany in 1928. His father owned and operated Walken's Bakery in Astoria. Walken was raised a Methodist.

Influenced by their mother's own dreams of stardom, he and his brothers, Kenneth and Glenn, were child actors on television in the 1950s. At age 15, when a girlfriend showed him a magazine photo of Elvis, Walken said, "This guy looked like a Greek god. Then I saw him on television. I loved everything about him." He changed his hairstyle to imitate Elvis and hasn't changed it since (Robert Schnakenberg, "Christopher Walken A to Z", 2008). As a teenager, he worked as a lion tamer in a circus.

James William Buffett was born on December 25, 1946, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and spent part of his childhood in Mobile, Alabama. He is the son of Mary Lorraine (Peets) and James Delaney Buffett, Jr. In grade school years, he attended St. Ignatius School, where he played the trombone in the school band. Buffett's grandfather was a sailor, therefore he was exposed to sailing as a child which had an early effect on his life and later in his music. He later lived in Fairhope, Alabama.
